    If you want to further your education in a healthcare-related position such as medical assisting, nursing or dental assisting, there is a lot your are going to have to master.     Abbreviations are used in healthcare settings to make record-keeping more efficient and to create a more universal language among healthcare providers. To eliminate miscommunication and to speed things up, abbreviations have become a major part of the healthcare field. Some of the common terminology will probably be things youve heard before, either on television or in past appointments you have had as a patient, but knowing what they stand for will help you set yourself apart in your healthcare classes and in your eventual career.
